Appointed Safety & Health Adviser Service

Safety legislation requires every employer to designate a ‘competent person’ to assist with health and safety at work. Many organisations cannot justify employing their own professional staff to guide them through the maze of legislation. Strutt & Parker operate the ‘Health & Safety Adviser Service’ aimed at providing ongoing support for those who do not employ a health and safety professional, or to provide back up for those with existing in-house expertise.

Written Policies and Safety Management Systems

It is no co-incidence that the most successful organisations tend to have the best health and safety record. We can help you to introduce, develop, and review your health and safety Policy and Safety Management Systems so that they are practical, effective, compliant and user friendly.

Safety Auditing & Status Reviews

Safety Auditing is a valuable management technique that is highly recommended by the Health and Safety Executive. An audit will show exactly how you measure up to legal requirements, whether your performance is up to standard and what action you can take to ensure compliance.

Risk Assessment

There is a statutory duty for a "competent person" to assess all risks in the workplace. Our qualified safety practitioners can assist your in-house staff to carry out assessments.

Specifically we can help your with:

Fire risk assessments
Vibration and noise assessments
Traffic and vehicle movement assessments

Health and Safety Training

The obligation to train staff starts from the day you employ them. We can provide individually tailored courses including the IOSH Working Safely in Rural Industries course to address your specific needs, either in-house or at a suitable local venue. Typical courses include:

Induction and general awareness
Display Screen Equipment
Fire and Emergency procedures
Hazardous Substances
Risk Assessment and manual handling
Control of Contractors
Construction and CDM

This is only a small selection of the courses available so please call to discuss your requirements.

Expert Witness and Accident Investigation Service

Even with good health & safety practices, accidents can happen and they may lead to both criminal and civil claims. We are able to offer an Expert Witness and Accident Investigation Service that can assist you or your insurers to decide whether there is any liability. We can also appear in court to act as an expert if required.

Environmental Health & Safety Services

Our Environmental health & safety services will help you keep on top of this important and developing area of management responsibility. As well as complying with the law, there are good business reasons to make sure you adopt environmentally safe practices. In addition to these general services we are able to offer specific services to ensure compliance including:

Noise assessments and Air monitoring (dusts and hazardous substances)

Construction Safety and CDM Services

We are specialists in construction activities and we can help you to monitor contractors by undertaking site inspections, providing advice and monitoring. For larger projects, we are able to act as your Planning Supervisor in accordance with the Construction Design and Management Regulations 1994 and to co-ordinate health and safety on-site.
